We have had past success at this level with candidates producing a portfolio of evidence in the form of work-based scenarios and reports to match the assessment criteria of each unit. This is only possible when someone is actually involved in senior fm decision making. More traditional assessment submissions are available if you find these easier to work on. These are written based assessments based on 1000 words per credit. You can mix and match the evidence provided between standard written based and portfolio based submissions.
The timetable below shows the units we are running in class and you can use it as a guide.
Tutorials are the opportunity for learners to show their work to the tutor. In a classroom environment this usually means about 20 minutes for each person. The advantage in distance learning is in getting 3 times as much time with the tutor to go over the assessment and feedback. This is perhaps the most important phase of the programme, especially when submitting the very first draft.
Having said that you may want to mix distance with attending some classes if you feel contact with the tutor and other classmates will help. Attendance is on Tuesday evenings from 5.30pm – 8.30pm.
Once we have your cv we will be able to confirm agreement on going straight on to level 6.
We will run this course as a distance learning programme as follows:
Introductory call, to say welcome you to the course and think about proposed submission dates, discuss the first piece of ”homework” i.e. only the first Learning Outcome usually with 3 AC’s – say 30 mins
Review and written feedback in track changes on Homework piece – say 30 mins
Follow up call on Homework, and to prepare for 1st Draft – usually about 1 hour
Review and written feedback in track changes on 1st Draft
Follow up call on 1st Draft and to prepare for 2nd Draft – usually about 1 hour
Review and written feedback in track changes on 2nd Draft
Follow up call on 2nd Draft and to prepare for Final submission – usually about 1 hour
Marking of Final submission and completing Record of Evidence Form, with notes if any AC’s not achieved (maximum of 2)
If there is a need for a re-submission, then an additional phonecall feedback is necessary as follows:
Follow up call as needed on 2 unachieved AC’s and to prepare for re-submission
Final review of re-submission and update of Record of Evidence Form
Note: it’s best to set up a call after the feedback on homework, Draft 1 and Draft 2 have been received, because It is not expected that the learner has access to the tutor at all times.
As someone working every day on fm related issues, you will achieve strategic managerial expertise beyond what would be expected at level 5. As long as you take the Diploma and pass all 9 units at level 6, this leads to CIWFM subject to relevant work experience. See http://www.bifm.org.uk/bifm/membership/advantages/MemberGrade
You can of course opt for the Certificate OR Award and consider topping up to Diploma at a later stage.
The costs of level 6:
£5400 for Level 6 Diploma (9 units) = 60 credits
£2750 for Level 6 Certificate ( 4-5 units) = 30 credits
£1580 for Level 6 Award (1 units) = 10 credits
VAT and IWFM registration are included in the above costs.
IWFM registration period is two years. That is the time frame you have to complete the assessments. We will support you during this two year period, but any assessments that need to be marked beyond this period are chargeable.
This will include IWFM registration for two years as well as delivery, marking, feedback and tutorials within the same period.
